Fiction writers never seem to have such a problem.

I remember when I was at Stanford and a fellow Stegner in Poetry Writing asked me if I was going to get "more life experiences" for my poetry during the summer break. I responded, "What?" But her attitude was rather dismissive; she assumed that I wrote autobiographical poetry. Sometimes I'll use autobiographical elements, but I like using my imagination--I can't settle for autobiography alone.

I believe someone once asked e.e. cummings after a reading the following question: "Was that a real poem or did you make it up?" His answers were "Yes" and "Yes."

I'm planning on writing a Part II for this entry.

All the best,

RobertRobert Vasquezhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/02815492384866215659noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3045268642557768245.post-57421068549688581642007-12-08T14:48:00.001-08:002007-12-08T14:48:00.001-08:00oops, sorry for the spelling error(s)oops, sorry for the spelling error(s)Sherylhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15714880589297494206noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3045268642557768245.post-10351947406997788932007-12-08T14:48:00.000-08:002007-12-08T14:48:00.000-08:00Intereesting entry. I love the last sentence of this entry.Sherylhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15714880589297494206noreply@blogger.com
